Theatre
I turned my hand to acting in the 1980’s and have played many lead roles in dramatic plays, comedy and musicals. I was also nominated for best actor in 2002 by the North East Essex Theatre Guild for my portrayal of Vic Parks, ex jailbird and bank robber, in the Alan Ayckbourn play “Man of the Moment”.
In June 2008 the MADABOUT Theatre Company submitted a play in the North East Essex Theatre Guild's one act play festival. The play, "Exit Stage Left", written and directed by Indira Allen, was about the attitudes of the British to the immigration of the coloured people following the "Rivers of Blood" speech by Enoch Powell. I was honoured to be awarded the trophy for best actor for this performance.
In June 2010 the Bocking Theatre Group submitted a play in the Gimson one act play festival. The play, "Interior Designs" by Jimmie Chinn, was about an odd job man who lived with his women customers while decorating their homes. I was delighted to receive the award for best actor for this performance.
I am currently involved in the production of bi-annual shows for the MADABOUT Theatre company where we have raised over £65,000 for the Macmillan Cancer Relief charity.
